They hold things hostage. An example is the nurses union. They would strike with the message that they care for the patients. Umm ok!

And then there is the whole union corruption thing from the top. Most union bosses are scum.

I would imagine that it has more to do with the demands that run a company into the ground, forced payment of dues that goes to political donations, and the fact that other companies don't seem to eager to come into Michigan these days. Just a guess though.

We know thugs when we see them.

$822,000 Worker Shows California Leads U.S. Pay Giveaway - Bloomberg

Government workers should be prohibited from forming or joining a union.

And I remember the IBEW union member who on strike called me a scab when I went into the building to shop. I remember your insults IBEW thug, I remember them well and here is my middle finger in support of you.

The unions aren't losing any rights. They can still work in their union.
But others, who didn't want to join unions now have rights to work free of unions.

Why are unions fighting to keep a monopoly ? Let the workers decide.

What's amazing is people actually think forcefully taking money out of someone's paycheck is a right.

Just goes to show ya how incredibly dumb people can be.

Looks like a little vacation didn't cause brain cells to grow.

You're correct all the way around.

And re: the legislation in MI:

"Snyder is expected to sign the measures into law as early as Wednesday that would make Michigan the 24th state with right-to-work laws, which ban requirements that nonunion employees pay unions for negotiating contracts and other services"

Why would anyone join the union if those that don't pay dues get the same negotiated contract as those that do? The whole idea is to deprive the union of funds.

Leave the choice to the people. What is wrong with that ?
They can join the union or they can choose not to and not be mandated to pay dues.

You don't trust the people to make their own decisions ?

Who says they will get the same union contract ?

They would be free to negotiate their own contract individually.
I think you're afraid that, given the choice, people will choose not to join.

Yep.

It's amazing how very little thought goes into such irrationally emotional beliefs.
