Obama said, "You’ve got owners, most of whom are worth close to a billion dollars,” Obama said. “You’ve got players who are making millions of dollars. People are having to cut back, compromise and worry about making mortgage [payments]. . . . The two parties should be able to work it out without the President of the United States intervening. . . . [F]or an industry that’s making $9 billion a year in revenue, they can figure out how to divide it up in a sensible way.”
The Harvard-educated Birk said, “I mean, the U.S. government brings in a couple trillion [dollars], don’t you think they’d know how to balance the budget? . . . .
It's not the president job to resolve the NFL problems. There are much more important things to fix in this country than this. Obama is right, the two parites should work things out on their own.

No one is asking the president to solve the NFL problems.. The NFL player was calling Obama out on his hypocracy of saying the NFL should be able to balance their budgets due to their $9B a year income, when Obama cant resolve his.. i.e. the federal one...

Kind of hard to argue the point...
There are only two groups in the football issue fighting over a piece of pie, the players union and the owners - one side either gets more, or the other side gets more. Pretty simple. The federal budget has thousands of groups pulling and shoving for a bigger piece of pie.
Maybe it's a good thing, that he has donated his brain to science (after his death) for research, to see how much damage was done by football.

Matt Birk needs to read the United States Constitution. It's the job of Congress pass appropriation bills.

First of all the players and team owners are arguing over revenue sharing.
That is a completely different issue than balancing a federal budget and it's much easier to solve.
Also under the Constitution it's the responsibility of Congress to pass appropriation bills. The President either approves or vetos a bill.

It might be much easier to solve the NFL issue, but clearly the NFL player pointing out the hypocracy is valid..

When you cant argue with facts.. attack the messenger.. yep.. typical..
This is WHY the income gap between rich and poor are increasing... athletes, CEOs, celebrities... and no liberal ask the President to tax the NFL, do they? No they ask the government to tax all the OTHER successful people who don't make anything close to these NFL players... yet these idiot liberals don't know who the super rich really are that escape a lot of the taxes... its no wonder that a lot of these people have "non-profit" foundations... raise taxes on other people, but let these tax shelters get away... they are in fact helping the rich get richer by eliminating all the other successful people...
Obama PROMISED during a debate that he would run the WH on a budget just like every American has to run their households, on a budget.
Obama does not know what a budget is.
He could not even pay off his own college loans even after making millions for several years on his BS line of books.
