Then why are they against it? That group has stigmatized itself quite a bit already, the hearing will not make that much worse really unless it discovers something ugly.

They feel that if we are going to investigate and hold hearings on domestic terrorism, it should apply across the board, and all forms of domestic terrorism should be investigated.

That's not a valid reason... it's speculation and there's nothing solid and fact based about the reason they gave, it's an excuse. The libs are constantly playing that ACLU angle all the while tanking the social and political integrity of this country.

And I'm certain that sometimes it might even be true.

That would be one of the times it was true. SB 1070 absolutely did alienate the Latinos.

Alas... Here we disagree. Not only are they reasons, they are often genuine reasons.

The hard decision is whether or not we feel the hearings important enough that we do not care if it alienates them.

Reasons need not be "good enough" to still be reasons.

That's a new one to me....

What exactly is the "ACLU angle?"

This nation can't afford to have home grown terrorists and we're slowly cranking them out and they're tied to Islam.

That means it is a subject that needs to be investigated without regard to what side has their poor little "feelings" hurt.

Not investigating does MORE damage than investigating.

Hearings before the Senate panel have included titles such as: “Violent Islamist Extremism: Al-Shabaab Recruitment in America,” “The Roots of Violent Islamist Extremism and Efforts to Counter It” and “Violent Islamist Extremism: Government Efforts to Defeat It.”
This looks like a fine agenda to start with. No complaints from me.
