GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- An Oregon school bus driver fired after he refused to remove a Confederate battle flag flying from his pickup truck has enlisted the help of a conservative civil liberties group in hopes of getting his job back.

The Rutherford Institute of Charlottesville, Va., sent a letter Wednesday to First Student Bus Transportation Services demanding that Ken Webber of Medford be reinstated.

Unbelievable, a Confederate battle flag, on a pickup truck, in Oregon. Anybody that brave (or crazy) has every right to get their job (and freedom of speech) back. Although I despise that stupid flag, I think on his personal vehicle, it's fine. Had he slapped a Confederate bumper sticker on a city bus, then he might be SOL.

Funny, a lot of people on CD thought that a teacher who had "liberal" bumper stickers on her car should have been fired.

If it's good for one, it's good for the other.

The hypocrisy is what gets me.

Although Oregon is not a "right to work" state, if it were, there would be no recourse.

Get rid of the public school system and the biased teachers, bus drivers and the criminal union problems all go away.

I guess you want to overlook the fact that the teacher admitted her left winger stickers covering her car was there to influance (indoctrinate) children. Not exactly what she was hired for, or was she?

You do see the differance don't you?

We see a lot of Confederate flags around here - and this is supposed to be Yankee territory (not all that far from Gettysburg). What about prominently displaying the Mexican flag on U.S. soil?

Default Double standard???

His employer told him to take it down, he refused, he gets fired. Sounds pretty simple to me.
