When you start stripping people of their rights and hard-won and hard-earned employment benefits, they have a tendency to remember who screwed them come election time. As do their friends, family and loved-ones.

Just look at the European nations that underwent austerity measures.
The workers protested. Did they win ? No, because there is NO MORE MONEY.

I think it's so cute how you put me on ignore, then read my posts but pretend that you're just posting a general reply and not actually answering me. I feel so loved.

Also, I thought we weren't allowed to compare ourselves to Europe. Make up your mind.

^^ This!

Moonbats have serious issues acknowledging reality. Look at the hope and dream platform of Barack Hussein Obozo.

Sorry..I haven't read that any public worker has been stripped of their hard earned benefits.
Who lost their pensions ? Who got their salaries cut ? Who lost their healthcare ? vacations ?

Collective bargaining is a hard earned benefit ?

I just perused the Bill Of Rights and I didn't see anything in there regarding unions having rights to strong arm the tax payers for ridiculoius benefits for public employees. Can you cite that section for us please?

Thx!

It's time to face the facts Jill: One of the cornerstones of liberal moonbattery is in decline. I know you hate that but we're in an unsustainable situation that has to be changed.

Doesn't Michigan have one of the worst economies in the country? What do you suppose could have caused that? What would you do to turn it around?

I am a retired Union Worker of 38 years and I am not in agreement of what the unions that the public workers belong to are asking of me to do as a tax payer .
A few times in my 38 years working ,,my union had to suck it up and back off of more pay and also not go for so much monies put into my pention and health and wefare.. why ? Becasue the economy was bad and we had a choice take less and keep working or go for all of it and not work for a long period of time.
Also as being in the construction trade we were always competing with non-union labor and if we priced our selves out of the market then we would lose. This is the way it was in the construction trades because we had some one who would take our place if we didtn't negotiate with in our means.

These public workers do not have anyone to compete with so they just keep asking for more and more and as you can see from many states,,this is whats breaking the bank and has to stop.

Because of them I will have to pay more of my pention monies and pay it in taxes just so they can have it better than any other civilian worker and it is not right. enough is enough I say..

You must not be keeping up with the news.

The public unions AGREED TO EVERY FINANCIAL CONCESSION the Governor wanted.

Every financial concession.

Every one.

But they refused to accept having their ability to bargain collectively to be stripped from them in the future.

I can't begin to imagine why you would disagree with something that's exactly the same thing you said your union has always stepped up to do in past economic crises.

Nor do I understand what makes you think they haven't also made similar concessions in the past; not taking raises in lieu of deferring payment to their pensions, for instance.

Very odd.

Have you read this guy's story?

What would you say to him about his pay and benefits commensurate to the work he does?

Or did. He's quitting now that he'll no longer have bargaining rights. But at least he's quitting. Four of his colleagues have committed suicide in the last 9 years due to the stress, long hours, uncompensated time, lack of days off, etc.
