These people are classic performance artists and I would not be surprised if there's an ulterior motive here like using them to restrict the freedoms of the general public.
Sometimes, I think the general public could do with a little freedom restriction. About all we seem to be capable of is graffiti, jackass stunts, being tattooed, and plagiarism masquerading as Wikipedia research.

The westies aren't parodists. They mean what they say. Just like the Republicans and Democrats.

Princess,

So you disagree with my right as a juror to decide whether I think a crime is worthy of conviction? Or do you pick and choose between freedoms?

Also, just curious...ever serve in uniform?

(Yes, I do realize that are none of us perfect)
My guess is that they take the Bible very seriously. There are plenty of passages in that book, both OT and NT, they can use to support their actions. Those Westboro people must really believe they are doing God's work, and that's what makes them feel like good Christians.

They are so misguided.

This is a group that figured out they could make a living through the courts by wrapping themselves in the First Amendment and hiding behind a tax-free church facade. Nothing more. They have been behaving in this manner for at least 30 years. The protesting for the spotlight at military funerals was just to bring in more revenue and it has worked like a charm.

If the media and everyone else would ignore them and if the Baptist Church would stop them from using their name, this group would disappear back on to the street corners and campus sidwalks where I had to walk around them just to get to class in the early '80s.

I would be shocked if someone actually came into this thread stating they were in support of Westboro.

There is no difference between them and more polite gay bashers and those who oppose gay marriage. All are confortable in their prejudice.
