Not even remotely close to GWB chopping wood at his ranch. Perhaps you forgot about the middle east imploding compounded by a devastaing earthquake and tsunami in a powerful nation that has helped up through our financial crisis.
The problem isn't him picking teams, really. It's that he has to tell the whole country about it. This is inappropriate, I feel, given the current world situation.

Oh, for G*d's sake! Is the world situation going to change if he doesn't pick his teams? The RW always can find some reason due to the world situation why Obama shouldn't vacation, give/attend a party, play golf, or watch sports on TV, etc. Granted a lot of you think he should be watching FOX 24/7, but really. . . .
Why do you think it's a good thing for him to announce his choices on national television? I don't know anyone who would care and I don't know how it would help anybody. He can do all of the other stuff you mentioned. And yes, we need a leader now who can help us in a major crisis situation.
