I can't speak for others, but I really wouldn't care one bit if he did this during an ordinary March. If he did this last March, which he might have, I wouldn't care. The timing, to me, is not in his favor.
That wouldn't have mattered had it been last March or this March. Last year the complaint would have been "we're in a recession/unemployment crunch and he's talking about the Final Four."
Maybe we should call him Coach. hey coach where are all them shovel ready jobs? what you gave all the money to wall street and the banksters! hey coach what about jobs. hey coach this is serious where you at coach? hey coach the ME is crazy and Japan is in crisis where you at coach. Ahh thanks now I know where to place my bets on the basketball pool, thanks coach

The point is he was on TV looking crazy this morning
He's somewhat knowlegeable about sports. Of course he's going to try to let everybody know he's got one area of expertise.
I wonder when they make him start talking about NASCAR?

Why do you think it's a good thing for him to announce his choices on national television? I don't know anyone who would care and I don't know how it would help anybody. He can do all of the other stuff you mentioned. And yes, we need a leader now who can help us in a major crisis situation.
Really, there are enough responses on here from those bashing him so obviously someone does care. I find when I don't care about something or someone I really don't pay attention to what they do or say. Methinks people protest way to much. Seriously people get a life, getting upset because the president made his picks for basketball.
Am I the only one missing the irony here that "TVand SportsGuy" started a thread about the president enjoying sports as a hobby?
Seriously?
Why do the whacko's who probably waste all of their free time on frivolous pursuits insist on pretending that the people who actually do things for a living should do so within their narrow mindset?
As an aside...I am about to fall over from exhaustion after working three 16 hour days and I'm really upset I didn't get a chance to get my bracket in this morning.
