Love my antique Kenmore so simple you can fix it yourself ,mostly mechanical no high tech elec junk. heck it's so simple you can make the parts if need be but any good hardware store has the stuff I need. and yes my whites are white, and my antique toilet is a one flusher, and I can lay completly under water in my 6' clawfoot tub.Them old timers lived the good life, Simple
Bought a Maytag (top-loader, of course!) a few years ago to replace our old Maytag we had for over 25 years. It's built with the same quality and durability that our old one was. Never had a problem with it.
My parents bought a GE washer and dryer in 1985. In 2005, the washer finally broke (clutch). The dryer is still going. They bought another 'high end' washer...that lasted three years. They're onto another one now...
Everything breaks these days. The houses we live in were built in the 80s and are running most of their old appliances without problems (including a/c units, furnaces, microwaves, fridges, stoves, ovens, garage door openers). In fact, our garage guy has told us two different times not to let anyone replace the door openers bc all the new ones are crap.
There's definitely SOME kind of conspiracy going on...why is everything I own from the 80s still working and everything I have bought since then perpetually on its last legs? It can't be a coincidence.
Well, these low-water toilets we have to use now aren't worth a ----. They often require more than one flush, which sure doesn't sound efficient to me. Glad mine is an old pot!
And when it's time for me to buy a replacement clothes washer for my old Maytag, I'm going to seek a used older model.
Imagine living in a country where YOU get to decide if you want to have the newest fanciest thing and not in a country where it is mandated by law...
What a great country that would be.
Some where over the rainbow....but not here.
