Look- if it isn't too late- let's agree on one thing: Ann Coulter took a hypothesis about low level radiation and made hash out of it. Coulter is no dummy; she did graduate law school (see what you've got me doing? I'm defending lawyers now.) but she don't know jack about radiation biology. She's a professional pot stirrer and an evidently successful one.
One of things I find in truly intelligent people is that they're usually smart enough to know when they don't know enough about a subject and shouldn't spout off on it. Ann Coulter has never fit in that category.
There is evidence that small amounts if radiation seem to have a stimulating effect on the immune system. It's called the 'radiation hormesis effect'. So she's partly correct.
Coulter has made a career out of being "partly correct." Sort of like "partly sunny" actually means "mostly cloudy."
Below is a list of signs and symptoms likely to occur when a human is exposed to acute radiation (within one day), in mSv:
Quote:
0 to 250 mSv - no damage
250 to 1,000 mSv. Some individuals may lose their appetites, experience nausea, and have some damage to the spleen, bone marrow and lymph nodes.
1000 to 3000 mSv - nausea is mild to severe, no appetite, considerably higher susceptibility to infections. Injury to the following will be more severe - spleen, lymph node and bone marrow. The patient will most likely recover, but this is not guaranteed.
3,000 to 6,000 mSv - nausea much more severe, loss of appetite, serious risk of infections, diarrhea, skin peels, sterility. If left untreated the person will die. There will also be hemorrhaging.
6,000 to 10,000 mSv - Same symptoms as above. Central nervous system becomes severely damaged. The person is not expected to survive.
10,000+ mSv - Incapacitation. Death. Those who do survive higher radiation doses have a considerably higher risk of developing some cancers, such as lung cancer, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, leukemia, and cancer of several organs.

Well, never say 'never'; she has a lawyers grasp of the law. I like Coulter mainly for the fact that she reddens the right faces, if you know what I mean. She's something of a guilty pleasure much like Maher is for lefties.
I don't agree that she is successful. Her minute of fame is done and this stupidity sealed it. She was nothing but a flash in the pan for the ignorant.
BTW, Coulter has no business telling the public what is or is not safe levels of radiation! She is not qualified!
She's sold three (or is it four now?) books and done quite well. I wouldn't count her out just yet.
No one on this thread has expressed a desire for AC to die.
Funny that the poster you quoted was oh so offended by such talk on another thread. Of course, that one wasn't an RW thread.
See below:
Yes, they wear badges, but they don't protect you from radiation they just tell them how much radiation they've been exposed to.
