I think I remember my dad saying that the trend started in the 40's during WWII and stuck ever since. What do you think?

no we shouldn't. i can't stand the horse and pony military show they put on at all the games. the emotion created with all the glowing tributes to cops and soldiers must be the number one recruiting tool. it's propaganda which would make goebbels proud.

national anthems are for when we play other countries, not for domestic games

Pretty sad thread overall.

Guess I am getting old. May God Bless this Country, it's fallen, and those who continue to serve.

Good luck to the rest of you.

then you'll fit right in with the current administration, they are national socialists, they look for any reason to get the military involved in something, they control most of the big industries and they also obsess about fox news!

another mindless robot who associates patriotism with a song. the constitution can be shredded, not a word! civil liberties infringed upon, not a word, undeclared wars, again, not a word!

bring up song and all of a sudden someone becomes a patriot. you can't even spell that word, let alone understand it.

thanks for the reps btw, i think you'll find that i'm on the other end of the spectrum from a "commie". if you examine what you think about the world you'll probably find yourself much closer to that end

Nascar race, and I don't think there were any Canadian drivers. The same drivers were at Talladega, and they didn't play the Canadian national anthem. I assume it was because it was Michigan, but still, American soil, play the American national anthem only. I've got nothing against "o Canada", but it belongs at Canadian events.

As I said, I don't expect them to play the American national anthem.

In the words of the Buddha, a bowling ball has no point. It's purpose is to knock down pins, or slam the gutter.

Take your pick.
