The only time we count is in the voting booth. And for a few months before that we have candidates promising us whatever we want on a silver platter if only we vote them in.

Both side with grand promises that are rarely, if ever, kept and never a realistic plan of how to get there.

Once in office we are no longer needed; just our money to fund their projects.
The same sick cycle happens over and over and people with short memories just lap it up.

In some cases we are in others we aren't the bigger problem is that to often We the People are not participating. You can not tell a man to lead you but fail to tell him where you want to go.

Maybe it seems to some people that their voices are not being heard because the majority thinks differently, which is hard to accept when you are really convinced of your own opinion. But what is the alternative? Doing nothing anymore so that nobody's wishes are violated?

I seem to recall the majority were against TARP.
I also recall the majority were against Cap&Trade. (passed by the House)

Both of those brought down the email and phone systems in DC due to the huge number of messages. Polls also showed Americans overwhelming against the above two.

Look, Obama has discovered the House is going to defund his efforts to spend the USA into Zimbabwe style hyperinflation. How else can he destory the economy in a quick fashion but via war spending? Just part of the long term plan by the globalists to bring the USA down and place the UN in charge of US policy.

What we think can matter but only if we address the root of the problem. End the FED, return to the gold standard and the limited powers of the US Consitution.

I am very much in favor of referendums because although elected politicians broadly reflect the majority's will, they also have their own agendas, which might be at odds with the people.

While I do not moderate this area any longer, I took the liberty of adding a poll to this thread since it appeared the intention of the OP. If it is incorrect or you wish it removed, just let me know.
