What's nauseating about this is that her "contrition" is actually an insult to voters' intelligence. Does anyone really believe this was a "mistake?" That she would try to pass it off as such says that she thinks we're stupid.
Vote her out.
Over these last couple years it's been pretty clear that elected officials on both sides of the isle do a horrible job paying their taxes... many seem to "forget" paying more in taxes than most Americans make in a year.
During the crescendo of her primary challenge to Gov. Bob Holden in July 2004, then-state auditor McCaskill ran an ad showing an airplane circling around the outline of Missouri, slamming the governor for "taking over 300 taxpayer funded trips on the state airplane."
According to the Associated Press, McCaskill pointed to news accounts that reported Holden flying to events like the NCAA women's basketball tournament in St. Louis and to a public speaking specialist in Kansas City as evidence as the "kind of things that make taxpayers raise their eyebrows."
"I don't believe you would see Gov. McCaskill getting on a plane and heading to ball games saying that's official state business," said McCaskill spokesman Glenn Campbell at the time.
That is how all lefties are responding when a Dem. "forgets" to disclose an itme they had to pay taxes for....
Surely we can forgive their confusion when it is a democrat involved. I find it funny how fast their I.Q points drop when it is a dem forgetting to pay.
“I do live in a glass house. I’ve worked very hard on accountability issues, and that doesn’t make this pleasant,” she said. “But I’m glad that [the record] was public, and I’m glad that anyone who is looking at it had the ability to ask the questions.”
The only reason the flights turned into a story, McCaskill said, is because strict guidelines and reporting rules require Congress to keep extensive public records for domestic travel. Her bill would require the same transparency for foreign travel. “This story wasn’t uncovered under a rock. This story was found because this is all public record,” McCaskill said. “The company that owns the plane is a public record on our personal financial disclosures. The payments were a public record. This was out in the bright sunshine for anyone to see. And so, that’s a good thing.”
"I have discovered that the personal property taxes on the plane have not been paid. There should have been a reporting to the county of the existence of this plane. There are people I could blame for this, but I know better. I take full responsibility,"
Wow, what an evil woman. Taking personal responsibility instead of blaming others, and supporting her position on Transparency because it's that very Transparency that uncovered this oversight, since all the records were public.

Uh-huh. Were you always so forgiving with those that committed such "oversights"?
Um....it wasn't claire that uncovered this, it was Politico.

Really? You actually took that hook, line AND sinker? You actually believe what she said? LMAO. She COULDN'T blame others. this is ALL on her and she had to soften it for the sheep. It seems to be working too.

She only made those statements AFTER heavy pressure to do so, AFTER being caught with her hand in the cookie jar, and AFTER the press had hold of the story to go public with it.
In case you were not aware and did not fully read the articles, Sen. Claire McCaskill was the Missouri Auditor prior to running for the Senate. Do you expect anyone to believe that the highest number cruncher in the state is not able to account for her own personal property taxes? Really?
Full responsibility is handing a letter of resignation to the Governor of Missouri.Jay Nixon-(D), not just writing a big check and hoping her ethical indescretion just goes away.
Even more disgusting is that at least one major newspaper, The Kansas City Star, pulled the story of McCaskill's tax delinquency, from its website. The mainstream media and newspapers of this country are complicit in covering up the unethical behavior of elected representatives. They did not pull that story without a call from McCaskill's office.
