Good for them. People should not be arrested or executed because of their sexual orientation - no matter where they live.
I'm not big on the death penalty period, and executing someone based on sexual preference is ridiculous. However, what each country does is up to them, we have other things to worry about.

I wonder how many people that answered no would have answered yes if the question was, "People should not be executed based on religious belief no matter where they live."

Homosexual issues have seemingly been one of the President's priorities in this country, and if anyone believes he can sell their concerns, (same sex union benefits, hate crimes legislation, homosexuals serving openly in the military), this man does.

One of the primary problems he will face, before the U.N., is that the U.S. is already hated by some Middle Eastern countries, (which is worsening by the day). Addressing the U.N. also means being willing to represent the people of the United States before 191 other delegates, of which he has only had about 80 supporters on gay/lesbian rights issues. In a time of economic instability within our own borders, unstable foreign governments, and the need for alternative energy sources, homosexual rights is what the president wishes to be passionate about before the U.N.

With this being the case, this begs the question, 'What are the other hundred or so, other nations thinking about America'? They are not oblivious to international crisis and worldwide newsworthy events. This is not the East room of the White House where celebrations for gay pride can be conducted in the East Room of the White House, without comment. This is the World Stage, and this president, who has only advanced the homosexual agenda in slow piecemeal fashion in this country, is now seeking to embarrass the U.S., (which does not have the influence in the U.N. that it used to), by attempting to involve himself, and us, in pushing the homosexual agenda to the world. How we are perceived by other nations is sometimes what influences this country's safety and security.

This president prides himself on his ability to excite and motivate individuals to begin to think about change, and he is always willing to take his show on the road, while never actually stopping to ask himself if the change he is proposing is good, or even necessary.

I can assure you that the Middle east, Africa, and a few other nations, are not going to simply join in a chorus of YMCA after being pressured to re-define homosexuality in there own countries to include it as an acceptable sexual orientation. (I promise you, this is not about preventing executions). I believe that pressuring the latest bad guy to flee his office is one thing. Pressuring foreign countries for moral and judicial reform is another, but this charismatic orator believes he's up to the task.

Since many believe that the efforts to oust Gaddafi, who was photographed shaking hands with the president as recently as 2009, is more about threatening western oil, than a genuine concern for humanity, what could possibly be the hidden agenda behind his passion to rescue abused homosexuals in foreign countries? One can only wonder.

Well said. The president's foremost job is to appease a majority of other nations. If anything, the US should re-institute the death penalty as punishment for homosexuality.

Should muslim majority countries force us to execute people based on sexual orientation?

Why do (some) people assume it to be okay to force our values on their countries if we wouldn't allow them to do the same to us?
