yup it is my favorite plane since growing up in the 1980's watching top gun and iron eagle but I always wished they had used the F-15 instead of the F-14 in top gun but hey top gun still has one of the best opening scenes in a movie ever.

to be honest I don't like the idea as the F35 being the main replacement for the gen 4 and 4.5 twin engine fighter jets that can fly even if a engine flames out happens. while the F35 also no super cruise and limited range and is slower and less agile then the f-15 and F-22 it is almost the F-16 replacement which is good but not good for air-air against the new russian sukhoi T-50

US fighter jet crashes during Libya mission - World news - Mideast/N. Africa - msnbc.com
How much goodwill did that same jet buy us with the bombs it dropped before crashing? I'm sure the families of the innocent people who were killed by those bombs feel great about the United States right now.

The tax payer money we lost by crashing that plane in Libya could have fed a few thousand hungry children for a while here in the United States, think of the goodwill that might bring

what? you should be glad that the pilots are fine and safe and the F-15 is more of a air-air combat plane than a multi-role fighter like the F-18 and F-16.

Should we be glad we can find the $$$ to attempt solving the world's problems while claiming empty pockets and ignoring our own?

well it is in a sense easier to solve outside issues then the internal issues to honest this is a distraction from what is going on here at home.

It's takes off the pressure from the media no one is talking about the budget or that some states are flat broke and people are being laid off. they are covering the war since it gets better ratings

I am happy that the crew is safe, I'd be really happy if they weren't bombing or air - air fighting over Libya.

Both crew members safely ejected before crashing, apparently we will put US forces on the ground in Libya after all.
Where does it state in the article we are deploying ground forces?

He means because the plane crashed, it is technically on the ground. I think.
