It was actually very lucky it crashed in the Eastern, rebel held area where the pilots were welcomed. What it it had crashed somewhere else, say Tripoli. What if Kadafy's forces got them? So what do we do then? That is the slippreyist of slopes. That is how feet will be on the ground when we have to use them to get back the pilots and so on.

These planes cost so much money. I'd always be reluctant to use them in battle.
That's what they are made for.

What a totally baseless rant (But what else is new? )

You have absolutely no creditable proof that any innocent people were killed by the bombs dropped by this jet.

If you do please supply it.

As to the other pilot, well after he was found by friendlies... we then bombed them, in order to win their hearts and minds...

El-Amruni's farm now bears traces of the bombs, with pockmarks from the blast marring a metal gate in the courtyard and parts of his house.

El-Amruni was hit in the blast and received shrapnel wounds in his leg and back. But he could still walk, using an old broomstick as a crutch. He said he didn't hold a grudge against the Americans, assuming the incident had been a mistake.

My greater question may be, will the United States now start enforcing No-Fly-Zones around every rebel uprising in the Middle East? If Israel engages in another 'Cast Lead' operation, will the US enforce a No-Fly-Zone?

There is an old adage, that says, if you are going to strike at the king, you best make it a good one. Perhaps these people just got swept up in 'rebel fever', because after all, does not Qadaffi have the right to keep order in his own country? What exactly determines how and where and which countries the US will engage in. If an uprising occurs in Saudi Arabia, will the US enact a no-fly-zone there? doubtful, so whats the difference.

Maybe these rebels bit off more than they could chew, perhaps they didn't think striking at the king through.

Just heard that the 'fire' that the rescue team came under was from rebel forces...of course the US troops shot them.

Oops.

It is funny how many don't seem to know how the Viet Nam war was expanded....Gulf Of Tonkin anyone?

So, you're assuming the mechanical problems that caused the plane to crash would not have happened if it wasn't in Libya?

No it got shot down. These planes are one the most reliable in the world. It's a whitewash to say otherwise

what do you mean fighter planes crash all the time at local airshows due to a major malfuction while pushing the planes limits for the crowds.

The "most reliable planes in the world" crash the least.

But they do crash.
