In 1959 Castro had not yet become a dictator.

Oh my gosh thought this was a joke. How many remember the Ed Sullivan Show. I think that the beatles got their start on that show, am i right. Remember my cousin telling me that the beatles got their start on that show in the 60's.

Isn't it time for old castro, to see his maker. Gosh how old is he.

The beginning of the move towards dictatorship (which Raul and Che were all in favor of) would begin in the summer of 1959 with the resignation of President Manuel Urrutia who was increasingly at odds with PM Castro. The death of Camilo Cienfuegos in a plane crash (most likely as the result of sabotage by Castro) and the arrest of Huber Matos in October 1959 accentuated the trend (as both men stood in the way of a consolidation of dictatorial power). By the end of 1960 Cuba was a communist dictatorship in all but name, although Castro did not formally abolish political parties and establish a dictatorship until February 1961. In the spring of 1959, the situation was different. Castro was considered a hero by many Americans and there was even a Castro comic book aimed at young boys to present him as a a real-life action hero.

George Washington later became a communist?

(In before "no, he was an evil slaveowner")

...Which, apparently, is news to people who don't think history extends back farther than the last decade.
