That in another round of 'change', things stayed the same.

Same pig, new lipstick.

And that's just the wealth that they actually declare. I'm sure many of them are worth much more than that.

Absolutely not. Not declaring income and assets to avoid paying taxes is. That was my point. A good number of our elected officials, and many in the O-admin, are tax evaders. John Kerry and his boat? Tim Geithner? Charlie Rangel?

I'd rather see an incoming member who is a millionaire (especially a GOP candidate that actually has experience in business) than a member who becomes a millionaire while there.

You're correct. However, since congress is in the pocket of big business, we all can agree on this, quite obvious, a savvy businessman knows where to find connections. And what better place to set up shop than Capitol Hill and lay the foundation to make more than just a mere million.

No wonder we have a government for the Rich, buy the Rich and of the Rich. Putting 100k up front to start your campaign is the ante in this game.

The rest of us are just production units without representation. Representatives always represent themselves and their class before anyone else. We would do better if our Representatives were chosen at random for the voter lists.

I believe a Congress Critter's wealth should be put in a trust out of their direct control for as long as they were in Congress.

I am not nearly as concerned with how rich they are as how they vote. If their votes help the poor and middle class, they could all be billionaires for all I care. Franklin Roosevelt was very wealthy but did more for the common people than most. That he is still vilified for that, decades after his death, is a sign of his personal integrity.
