Here is the list of total exports by country. China is number 1 and that is no surprise. What shocks me though is Germany, a country that is 1/3 the size of the USA and has "evil socialist policies" regarding unions and worker's rights, out exports the USA.

Another shock is how the Netherlands, a country of 16,000,000 out exports Canada(33,000,000) and the UK(68,000,000).

You don't suppose it has to do with the fact that a huge percentage of the goods in this country are CONSUMED in this country? Us being so big and all? Hmmm?

Germany has the right mindset when it comes to public and private enterprise. The country respects its citizenry, attempts to reduce distractions such as health care and education costs and in return, focuses on progress.

Overseas territories tend to rake in the big bucks in tourism and certain commodities. They tend to make things less complicated, in fact.

If guest immigrants are not allowed to extract social services (other than emergency care), which I suspect is the case in Germany, their system would work better. In America, tens of millions of undocumented workers tying up emergency rooms, magnet schools, food stamps, etc tend to deplete the treasury.

Actually, in terms of population Germany is pretty much 1/4 the size of the US. 82 vs 311m.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown by sector. Some countries export a lot of agricultural stuff, others technical stuff. I guess all leading European countries have a sound mix of exports.

All in all I think the Netherlands is the best European country.

They don't hold many of those territories anymore, except in the Caribbean. Those REALLY rake in the big bucks!

It is an interesting situation regarding immigration. For one, crossing a river into the U.S. is much easier than having to, essentially, fly to a new continent.

Anyway, I'm glad the Netherlands still export millions in cheese and tulip buds.

Germany has a strong manufacturing and technological center. Hell many of our science models and programs at my university come from Germany.

"evil socialist policies" have nothing to do with exports, baseball scores, the height of mountains and many other things.

You're right, quality workers have absolutely nothing to do with how much you can export.
