Government budget by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't understand how a country with no libertarian tradition can have such a huge surplus AND provide cradle-to-grave government handouts to its people.

Something doesn't add up.

It's called not needing a military because you can call the United States and NATO to fight for you.

It's a much smaller economy but tax revenue is distributed effectively... Gas tax is used to fix the roads... etc.

No comparison between the US and Norway....
Small population, 94% white. average age is 40. A notoriously healthy folk almost all of which have a job of one type or another......
Norway Demographics Profile 2011

Demographics of Norway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It would be the same here if that was our population. Is that what you are advocating? That we become an ethnocentric, middle age, work or die country?

What does that have to do with anything? North Korea's population is the most homogeneous population in the world so by your logic they should be the most successful nation of all

They do not provide billions and billions of dollars in aid, to other nations like we do with our tax dollars.
They don't have any public assistance in the form of actual currency gifts. It is all service related, not monetary.

Almost everyone pays into the system.

There is no recipient class, as in America.

Regardless of the income tax rate, if 1/2 of the people don't pay in, it's difficult to maintain.
