Do people NOT UNDERSTAND the contents of this article???
It should be broadcast from every building in this country.
The U.S. is supporting the interests and fighters of and from Al-Qaeda here!!!
You know, Al-Qaeda, the actual enemy that committed the 9/11 attacks, not Qaddafi who hasn't done anything to harm American interests in decades.
And people actually think these Islamist rebels, some of which fought and killed U.S. troops in Afghanistan less than ten years ago, are the LESSER of two evils????
I understand. This was mentioned in the beginning before help, before 'no fly zone' and then it was hushed up.
Obama is speaking now ... but still no mention of who the rebels may be.

LMAO you act as if this is the first time the USA has supported Al Qaeda and the Taliban. It's all about the OIL and control over RESOURCES

Actually, the U.S. never supported Al-Qaeda.
The U.S. did aid the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, which at the time was under a Marxist government based in Kabul and a Soviet occupation. The Mujahideen were not Taliban, as the Taliban didn't exist at the time of the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
The Mujahideen later splintered primarily into two groups - the Taliban and the Northern Alliance, which battled for control of the country throughout the 90's in the Afghan civil war. Despite Indian, Iranian, and other international aid to the Northern Alliance, the Taliban managed to defeat them militarily and seize control of most of Afghanistan. Upon this happening, the only three countries to recognize the Taliban government were Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Nojumi's detailing of the aforementioned events covering the Soviet war in Afghanistan, the Afghan civil war, and the consolidation of Taliban strongolds in Afghan provinces along ethnic lines in The Rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan is quite an informative read for those who want to move past the shallow one-liners when discussing international affairs.
The "revolution" was manufactured by the west ... specifically, US-British intelligence and special forces.
France has a much heavier manipulation going on in Libya than USA or Brits.
I think you give the west too much credit for absolute command and control discounting the hand of so many other players as zero significance. Americans need to get over hubris. You're not who you think you are when relying on a fun house mirror.
Al Jazeera's agenda for the entire region merits more scrutiny than this ballroom blitz of counterintelligence plaguing media. Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani is the Muslim equivalent of Ruppert Murdoch wagging the dog. Justified or not? The end game is anyone's guess.
How else can you explain uprisings in Eqypt, Yemen, Syria, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iran, Libya... all happening simultaneously? Statistically impossible.

What must be remembered is that the situation in every country you just listed is extremely unique from the other. These are all events which must be analyzed individually.
While the U.S. would likely benefit from an uprising in Iran, it certainly won't from Egypt in the long-term, and the overthrow of the Saudi monarchy spells death for U.S. interests in the Gulf.
After Barry's "speech" last night, the Congress should immediately start drafting Articles of Impeachment. This is an ILLEGAL WAR that was not authorized by Congress. Getting approval from "congressional leaders" does not cut , and the president does not take orders from the United Nations.
The Taliban are a creation of the CIA and Pakistani ISI, Al CIAda is Bin Ladens which would never have come about without the CIA. And we arm all these mugs, fund them and provide covert support thru units of Spec Forces. Bo Gritz the most decorated SF guy in his time was over in Afganistan arming, training Bin Laden in the 80's. We provided these people with 200 Stingers and 50 suitcase nukes, the nukes have all been accounted for but not single Stinger. Now in Libya we are flying air support for the same scum that have been blowing our Marines to pieces in Iraq/Afganistan!
