It will be more interesting to see how many people see what Chuck U Schumer said on the phone yesterday about who is and who is not extreme. I wonder if anybody will ever be able to pul his foot out of his mouth as deep as he shoved it in there.

Poor John. It was so much easier last year, when all you had to do was say "NO!" to everything.

The Republicans created a monster that was higly effective in accomplishing their goal of instilling fear into the population. But now the monster is off its leash, and they are getting mauled by it.
I take it that you haven't heard what Chuck U. Schumer said on the telephone yesterday when he thought no reporters were on the line yet. I think that old Chuckie put himself and his buddies in a deeper hole than they thought they had Boehner in.

You hope what you say will become true but if you Google Schumer's words yesterday to the reporters when he thought he was only talking to Democrat Congress critters you may understand what I mean.

House Republican leaders turn to moderate Democrats for budget deal

Having difficulty finding consensus within their own ranks, House Republican leaders have begun courting moderate Democrats on several key fiscal issues, including a deal to avoid a government shutdown at the end of next week.
This is great news for the country as a whole if it's true. The extremists are refusing to negotiate and just want to shut down the government which would be a disaster for us all as well as the Republican Party come next election. It's good to see the Republican leadership is pragmatic enough to stand up to their own raving loons.

BTW if they're serious about cutting spending then eliminating the $125 billion per year in useless market distorting farm subsidies would be a great place to start. That would be 2-3 times as large as the nonsense partisan cuts Republicans have offered and it would likely even be a good thing for farming in America in the long run. When New Zealand ended government subsidies for farmers the value of farm produce in the country actually doubled in just four years as farmers were forced to become more efficient and switched from low price but subsidized crops to crops which actually had high market prices. Imagine that, they became more responsive to market demand. What a concept!

Let's let ADM & Conagra actually justify their own economic existence without stealing money from the tax payer's pocket.
