When China got Hong Kong back tens of thousands of people from there came to Canada and they brought their billions of dollars with them. A lot of Canadians were upset with this for some reason I can't figure out. I look at it this way. They brought a huge amount of capital into the country. They bought companies and real estate with that money. The previous owners got the cash to reinvest in other business or whatever. The real estate is fixed, it's not like these Chinese are going anywhere with it. The final result is that our economy is expanded jobs are created more taxes are raised and it's a win win for the country. So then the secret to fixing California is to not sell it to the Chinese but to get the Chinese to invest their trillions of American dollars there. There are a few ways this could be done. Devaluation of the American dollar would force them to buy American assets in the USA before the purchasing value of their holdings went down ever more. Give them grants and tax breaks to situate in the state with the condition that they must stay in the state. Ontario has used this to attract many foreign industries here. GM actually had to pay the province back for shutting down a plant in Oshawa.

Back in the 30's Germany was totally broke and yet they built a huge economy in less than 10 years using foreign capital, mostly American. It was amazing that foreigners invested because part of the deal was that profits had to remain in Germany and so therefore were used to develop even more capacity.

As the old saying goes "There's more than one way to skin a cat"!!

I thought I read that IT wasn't doing so well a few weeks ago so when I read the post I searched for some article to make sure I didn't dream up the whole thing. It seems I partially misremembered. It was only not doing well relative to other professional employment, not that it was doing bad overall. That's why I posted the quote.

Well I don't even need to post any pics, everyone already knows...

Ive been to the "nice" part of Michigan, it sucks. When I visited the great lakes it was freezing cold in may! and there were thousands of dead fish in the water. Those are a few nice pics off an advertising website. Every state has bodies of water and in TN they are not freezing 10 months out of the year. TN also has better golfing than MI which is also year round. TN also has better skiing. I'm not saying TN is a great state, its far from that but MI is quite possibly the worst state in the country and should not be compared with TN.

I really think your the one who should get out more or you wouldn't be defending Michigan.

You don't travel much, do you or you drive through states with you eyes closed half the time.

I've been to the "nice" part of Tennesse sorry in comparson to other places around the country it's not all that impressive. The not so nice parts of Tennesse contain some of the most *ss backwards people I've ever met.

I could got to any number of cities around the country from Dallas, Pittsburgh, New York, Houston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, Little Rock, Nashville, Atlanta etc. etc. etc. and get similar pictures of urban blight.

Sure Tennesse has a lot of things going for it but I personally having been to Tenessee and compared to Michigan simply have a personal preference for the beauty and people of Michigan.

To each his own.

I like Michigan

You like Tennessee.

I have been to all 48 lower states. Every single one of them has fantastic great natural beauty. The USA is just one incredible natural wonder.

imagine the eviction process once sold.... Ok everyone out go to Arizona, they are use to being overrun. Or how about send them to Mexico, it's home to 1/2 of them and it would be a great coup to go South. Might as well have a 51'st state
