It's a pretty good reason to have serious doubts about anything and everything that the anti-Muslim press says. These are the same people who accuse Jews of practicing blood libel.
I know for a fact that the Mormon Church never practiced any such thing. Sure you can't be a practicing homosexual and be a member in good standing. No the Mormon Church does not accept homosexuality as fine and good. But if there was anything of substance to you're accusation here, it would be something on the local level and in direct violation of policy. If anything like that came to the attention of the leadership farther up the chain of command, the perpetrators would stand a very good chance of being excommunicated post haste.
You don't have to explain yourself. She knows exactly what your point is -- that some legal systems are barbaric and support rapists while further victimizing rape victims.
