Read my post, thats the conservatives answer to your question.
I find that answer ridiculous. Telling people not to have children, and control their sexual urges hasn't worked since the beginning of time, and never will.
People will go without food, money, water, and give up their lives to procreate.
What about starving kids in other countries? Would you be willing to give up every single one of your luxuries and non-essentials to feed them? Don't you feel like a horrible person that there are starving kids in Africa?

I agree with you, we have the fattest kids in the world, because once again, of irresponsible parents, that don't know the meaning of healthy eating, their healthy eating consits, of fattening fried foods, oh yum yum, sugary fattening foods, and have not taught their children the concept of exercise. I have seen this first hand, then they cry, and tell you they know of no reason why they have fat unhealthy children, pisse- me the hek off.

When you're poor, here are your choices.
1. Food with a long shelf life, that fills bellies, and isn't that healthy.
or
2. Perishable items that go bad in a few days, that are healthy.
When every dime counts, well, you fill in the rest.
The fat comes in because parents don't make their kids do a darned thing. My son is 7, plays football, helps mow my yard, and has a chore list around the house that includes doing his own laundry and putting it up.
Its hard to turn down a 2 dollar meal at McDonalds when you don't have the money to pay the electric bill. Some folks have to make that choice, and make to much for food stamps. But people like that don't complain, they get by. And then they are called bad parents for not feeding their kids a healthy meal all the time.

I can agree with you to some degree. I do know of some people who are rather on the poor side, however, with a 99cents only store, they seem to do ok, buying salad, and yougarts, and fruits, and grains, and foods that are more healthy. You can be poor but still make some good food choices, kids don't know fattening from boring, they learn about these foods from their parents. But i can accept parents not turning down a Mc'Donalds meal for their children. So i will not argue your point, guess a parent has to do what a parent has to do, but at least try and make some right food choices.

And to be fair, I'd say that the LARGE majority of folks aren't that way. Most folks could make better choices, and get enough assistance to feed themselves and their children properly.
But it has gotten to the point where some people will look down on you for having a happy meal box in the car, like you're killing your kids.
So cut government funding and let private organization feed the poor children and provide medical services to poor children?
How exactly do you expect that to work?
Just like it did when Herbert Hoover was in office. Even though the abject failure of that approach after the stock market crash if 1929 that launched the Great Depression led directly to the election if FDR and the creation of the modern safety net, many on the right still subscribe to his philosophy. There had been major depressions in the 1930s, 1890s, 1870s, and several prior to that. There hasn't been one since, largely because those on the bottom don't bottom out as low as they once did and help keep the economy flowing to a higher extent even during the worst of times.
