When you make more money, you pay more taxes. Why some folks can't get that in their head, I can't understand.

And yeah, the poorest guys do pay taxes, sales tax, fuel tax, social security and medicare taxes, etc.
I don't know about all that, but I suddenly want a cup of coffee.

All those men would be middle class and above then. Otherwise four would pay nothing and 2 would pay less than the coffee takes to make. Then the governamnt would pay the cofeee shop with the chinese credit card for the shortfall. Then the government would propose that the one that most earns pay for the credit card bill.Next week the 6 want donut rights.

Yeah, well, FICA is a cash-back deal; it funds retirement and disability benefits. It is rigged so the poorest get the most bang for their buck. It has no place in this illustration.

The sixth would pay $3
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

Coffee Shop Economics « Muddy Dog Roasting Co.
I have pointed out the problems with this numerous times. It assumes that all 10 people get the same thing, which may be true in a coffee shop, but is not true about the government. The rich benefit far more from the status quo then the poor do even after those mean old poor folks victimize them.

The rich get far more benefit out of the government then the poor. They benefit more from the police, and military since they have more stuff to protect. They benefit more from the FAA. The more shopping and driving they do they do the more then benefit from the roads, and the ports. They even benefit more from the public schools because it means a better trained and more efficient workforce with few youths turning to crime and gangs etc. and so forth. The poor on the other hand get welfare. SS and Medicare are split.

Essentially if tomorrow the rich person didn't show up and pay and everyone else stopped paying for the government I assure you the wealthy would have far more to lose in the insueing anarchy then the poor.

As to the argument the rich will move overseas, outside of America is for the most part much more hostile territory then America is. Most of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America have far stronger socialist tendencies then the US.
