Much of the criticism about Muslims is unfair - but since 9/11 I've had it with pussyfooting around and trying not to offend Muslims. Too many take the slightest insult as an exuse to go on a rampage. An obscure pastor in America burning a Koran in private (no video) becomes an excuse for the Afghan & Pakistani leaders to fan the flames?

To faithful Muslims, he didn't just burn "paper" or a book, he actually burned G-d. The Koran to Muslims isn't at all the same as the Bible is to Christians. It's not just a book. It's the literal word of G-d, and any desecration of a Koran is akin to desecrating G-d.
Terry Jones knew this. He was told this. It was made perfectly clear to him that by burning a Koran, he would be inciting violence, because that particular "piece of paper" is considered Holy in a way that the Bible simply isn't.
He didn't care.
That alone is enough to stain him with the blood of the victims as far as I'm concerned.
