$600,000 for art, not roads, at Mark Center - Dr. Gridlock - The Washington Post

The kicker.. 6,400 people will be able to view it..

Here is the link with the 4 proposals, including photos.. Does anyone here think they are worth $600K?

Crazy, isn't it? I'd have to go with none of them being worth anywhere near $600,000, especially this one: Pentagon Art: $600,000 Gurgling Toad Sculpture - Washington Whispers (usnews.com)

WA state has gone even further with a law in place requiring them to spend .5% of the project on art. Billions of dollars in debt and they still spend money on (so called) art and complain about having to cut services. The Tacoma Narrows bridge required $4.2 million for art. King County (in WA) requires 1% be spent on art, that means $16 million in art...on a sewage treatment plant.

Sorry, but I'm not going to vote to raise my taxes when they're pissing away millions to dress up a sewage treatment plant.

It is this kind of waste of taxpayer money that generates contempt for our elected officials. All the more so for those that claim we can't cut spending without "hurting someone". Cutting this $600k would only hurt the no-talent artists drug budget. That thing looks like something a 3rd grader did in art class. Our elected officials have no sense of responsibility with OUR money.
