In a city of roughly 35k people in the last 10 years 6thousand "non whites" ( mostly somali) moved in while 3000 whites left..
I have always wondered about this. President George H.W. Bush's decision to go into Somalia was a huge mistake. Then the second mistake was to admit thousands of Somali "refugees". Another example of American over-reach. Couldn't the culturally similar oil rich gulf nations (Dubai, Kuwait, etc ) taken in any Somalis that needed to leave their country?

Now I have nothing against Somalis per se. It's just that this is another example of an extremely culturally dissimilar, very poor, unskilled, and uneducated group of people brought over here and payed for courtesy of the American taxpayer.

The aspect of this that has always perplexed me was the communities chosen to receive these refugees. Most were sent to Minneapolis and Maine.

Why?

I would think that if one were to resettle thousands of people from the arid, hot, desert of the Horn of Africa, Arizona or Texas might have made more sense. But the federal government chose the cold, mostly white states of Maine and Minnesota. I'm sure the Somalis would have preferred warmer weather.

Do I detect a bit of social engineering going on here? Did some in positions of power think that Maine and Minnesota weren't diverse enough?

how? by issuing laws similar to The Chinese Act of 1882?

How did more than twice the number of people from Mexico than China get a green card? I was under the impression that there is a cap of 7% for the amount of green cards issued to people from a particular country. In any case, the 7% cap needs to be removed because it penalizes prospective immigrants from large countries.

I think this cap is good, because immigrants are more diverse, without that many small countries will be "punished" : Salvador, Guatemala, Ghana, Nepal, Kenya, Sri Lanka...So not it's a good thing.
Without this cap most of these immigrants would come from 5 or 6 countries, no thanks
