He committed to going to Harvard Univerisity and getting a law degree.

He committed to becoming and state senator in Illinois.

He committed to becoming a United States Senator.

He committed to becoming President of the United States

He committed to marry a Black American woman.

And he's managed to stay married to her, which is more than I can say for Newt Gingrich, Rudy Guiliani, or Donald Trump.

Not to say that it never happens with Black Americans but the behavior seems much more prevalent with White Americans.

In many cases White Americans automatically identify these children as Black, especially based on first impressions.
Honest question: How do Black Americans react to bi-racial children?

Interesting how some folks like to point out that Obama is half-White. What ever happened to that whole "one drop rule" ? I guess it doesn't count if that person becomes a success. If Obama was some bum on the corner, I guess he'd be Black?

Bottom line: Some biracial people identify more with their Black side for whatever reason. How Obama chooses to self-identify is his personal decision. Stop over-analyzing everything.

In my experience, they treat that child as a Black person. From my personal experience growing up, there is no "he's half-White" distinction. Not saying that's never the case...just not in my experience.

Since Obama calls himself black, maybe he believes in the one-drop rule.

Simple; The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice. Everyone knows this.

Note, explicit lyrics.

No, it's b/c God forbid someone acknowledge the white half of them. Most mixed people just claim the black part, for whatever reason. Even people like Obama who were raised in a white family act black and claim only the black side.

But why claim just black instead of just white...he was raised by a white mother and grandparents.

Why claim just white instead of just black... he obviously isn't just white. And what it ultimately comes down to is what the cops will see when they profile you... you think the first thing they would notice is that he's half white? Hell no. lighter skinned blacks have historically received preferential treatment over darker skinned blacks but that doesn't stop them from receiving most of the short end of the stick. Which one of you would think of yourselves as a white person that was treated like one if your nickname throughout junior high and high school was n*****? Because that's what Obama's was in Hawaii.
