...or the President.

You probably missed my post, or couldn't comprehend it. Total military spending in 2008 was... $900 Billion (a chunk of it wasn't made public via the budget).

Americans are so stupidly and ignorantly obsessed with their f'king military. Our military and our defense budgest and endless wars are killing our country. Our foreign policy and policing of the world is not making the world a safer place nor is it pathetically bringing ANY kind of democracy or freedom to the world. You wanna know where all your defense spending goes? Look at the biggest most expensive embassy ever to be built in IRAQ! And we aren't occupying that country? LMAO!

The most lucrative government contracts are propping up an entire defense industry i.e. Raytheon, Lockheed, Boeing, GE, etc. 70% of the US intelligence industry goes to PRIVATE COMPANIES! And we have capitalism in this country? Yeah right!

The military industrial complex is not only milking the tax payers dry it is subverting and hijacking the entire democratic process in America. We are taken to war and our young boys and girls sent off to die at the blink of an eye without congressional approval and the people's support be damned. Support the troops? F#$K the trooops! It's time the troops stand down and say enough is enough. It's time they tell their corrupt tyrannical overlords they are sick of fighting and dying for their vile puke of a commander in chief and his corporate puppeteers like GE. We had Cheney and his Haliburton and now we have Obongo and his GE/BP. Pathetic that Americans can't see the forest for the trees. Americans seem to have a propensity for grabbing their ankles and taking it up the rear end by their government.

True. Expand that to include any politician. Besides "for the sake of our children", the phrase "over a 10 year period" is one of their favorite lies.

Of course it wasn't made public. The CIA has been running drugs for 50+ years to fund black op projects and major American banks have been laundering drug money for decades. Most Americans are clueless or just don't care how corrupt their country and government is.

So you're saying defense spending has already been cut from $900 billion to $673 billion since '08? I doubt it, but if so, way to go! Now lets start rollilng back the irresponsible, unsustainable increases in domestic spending that took place in that time.

It is loud and clear that a lot of Americans are happier being clueless. The Ostrich Syndrome at work.

Nope. Total Military Spending:
FY2009: $900 Billion (Last budget under Bush, plus $ 118 Billion in spending on wars kept off the budget, the Paul Ryan benchmark)
FY2011 $895 Billion (Second budget under Obama, includes war spending)
FY2012: $881 Billion (Third budget under Obama, includes war spending)

In current dollars, military spending has come down a little. In constant (2010) dollars, a little more so.

social spending is what is killing us

we spend more on healthcare(crappy care) than we do on the military

we spend more on education then we do onthe military

we spend over 500billion (federal) on welfare every year

yet we only spend 92 billion on transportation (an infrastucture)

If you look secretary Gates has already porposed cuts in defense. The defense budget itself is at 1990 levels and rmained pretty steady at 4%. Remember that it's budget does not include war spending in Iran;Afganistan or libya. Also much of the money spent in Iran and afganistan is not for military spending but in other budget since its control by other departments.
