No, I am not: I am saying Liberals have a habit of lumping people together, as in using Republican and conservative in the same frame, I do not consider Democrats and liberals as the same. This is my point, there are various levels of conservative, libartarians, independents, Rrpublicans, etc. Fiyero, though now back trackly a little has said Republicans are conservatives and conservatives are opposed to gay rights and abortion.

You are generalizing which is a habit that can be compared to "lumping people together". And you do it very often on here. I don't think you have the right to be upset when people lump people together, when you are the first to make broad generalizations about a group of individuals.
The truth is marching on and even die hard conservatives who just a few years ago were against equal rights for homosexuals are starting to abandon their old bigotry. In a short time just about everyone will wonder why we ever denied equal rights to homosexuals just like we now wonder why anyone would deny equal rights to people based on their race. You'll know we've made true progress when right wing conservatives start claiming they always supported equal rights for gays (instead of opposed it as they really did) just as conservatives now claim they always supported equal rights for blacks. [Que conservatives claiming moderate to liberal northern Republicans who voted for the Civil Rights Act in 1963 were secretly conservative. Hint: The GOP didn't go hard right until after the Civil Rights Act)

What a bunch of bs. Let me see if I have your argument down --- conservatives who agree with homosexual marriage and full rights are former bigots and homophobes who somehow magically changed their minds only within the last few years -- the result of Obama magic, perhaps? And Reps who were pro civil rights suddenly became racists the minute schools became integrated and blacks were given the guaranteed right to vote?
What a complete and utter asine and delusional partisan crap.
I wonder how you would explain the strong black presence against homosexual rights? After all, historically blacks are democrats.
Good. I'm glad they struck down a stupid law. Where in the Constitution does it say that gay people can't adopt a child?
Let me add, where does it say anything about gays in the Constitution? I only bring this up because we have many laws both good and bad that are not founded by something in the constitution. Just think how our country has changed over 250 years...??

While it doesn't say the word gays, the ban is clearly in violation of the Equal Protection Clause in the 14th Amendment
I'd like to apologize to pghquest for my rude post last Friday. There is no excuse for it. I don't think pgh's opinions are crap, and I appreciate that his response was civil and level-headed, when mine was not.

hey, you know I thought the law was awful, I am just pointing out how much of what we say and do today is not in the constitution. And I do get tired (maybe not in this case) but of the public voting for or against just to have it thrown out in court.

That has to be determined by the supreme court. Unless you are a supreme court justice.................you possess an opinion.
