They are the same thing. Why are both groups in denial? Tea Party members try to claim they are not Republicans. No one in their right mind aside from Tea Party members themselves make this distinction. When are are we going to end this silly little label of "Tea Party" and just go back to calling them what everyone knows they are.....Republicans?

Really? You see no distinction? Not all conservatives are republicans and vice versa as well. Not all liberals are democrats either. Have you ever heard of a Venn Diagram? You may want to draw one, it'll help you understand better.

The tea party concerns itself with a fraction of some of the core republican values. I don't know any TP members that give a hoot about social conservancy, but they are very much concerned with fiscal conservancy. I've yet to see a TP protest about gay rights or abortion, but there have been hundreds of TP protests regarding spending and taxation.

In point of fact they aren't. The leadership of the republican party far too often resembles and acts like the leadership of the democratic party. For example, I like mr bush but I didn't approve of his spending. The tea partiers didn't either. The tea partiers are an attempt by middle class americans to make the republican party represent their interests.

Within your post is the shining example of what is wrong with this country.
Not all republicans are tea party supporters not all democrats are tea party haters.
You are so inclined to think everyone who does not agree with spending us into oblivion is against you. we as a nation as a majority buy into the belief that if someone disagrees with you, you must either categorize them as the enemy or attack everything about them. We are a us versus them mentality in this country and your post so encompasses that philosophy.

The tea party in the begining was as much against the Republican party as it was the democrat party. Their primary ideals (at least in the begining) were based in libertarianism rather than conservatism. The grassroots movement of it all really got rolling with the likes of Ron Paul (who now has somewhat distanced himself from them).

The distinction has been lost due to the fact that the Republican party shares some of the same ideals (in theory; not practice) of smaller government.

At some point the Tea Party may just split from the Republican Party and become a free standing poltical party. The splintering between the two entities already exists.

Repubs tend to be pro-corporate; anti-liberty and anti-socialism.

Tea-party is pro-liberty; anti-corporate and anti-socialism.

Dems are pro-socialism, anti-corporate and anti-liberty.
