if we required all members of congress to be fiscal experts or set a minimum requirement as far as finance-related credentials, would it be hard filling congressional seats?

the credentials can be from college, although if the credentials come directly from prior employment, that's even better.. the credentials just have to exist.

i have a gut feeling alot of congressmen and congresswomen are pretty bad at finance. in theory, congress represents "the citizens", and let's be real- each of us here personally knows at least 2 or 3 citizens who are not only horrid at finance, but financially illiterate.

They have quite a few - get them all in there

He has five children, Ronnie, Lori, Rand, Robert, and Joy. There are eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

It would be hard to fill the seats with fiscal experts, primarily because, most Americans cannot spell fiscal.

bottom line -we need a better/smarter nation to produce better/smarter leaders. .. maybe regular citizens don't feel a financially smart person "represents them" because they aren't that way. people generally vote for a person they identify with or whoever talks the best talk (makes the most promises)

but of course there's a big question. would finance experts even want to be part of congress when they've got much better career choices? i would think no. so how can we attract them?

Shouldn't we have set standards they must achieve before they apply?
How's this?

5 years direct experience managing 20 or more employees
Degrees in accounting and another field, Military service of 5 years can be substituted for second degree or a masters / PHD
No police record
No drug use
tested IQ of 115 or more
in good physical fitness, not over weight

For President you must have held a position of VP or P/CEO of a company with more than 200 employees or held a senior role in government or the rank of 3 star general or higher. plus the other requirements
