5% off of everything this year and another 5% in each of the next 3 years including DOD, and a complete elimination of all tax breaks & credits for both individuals and corporations in 2014.

So much of that list is ideological cuts and anyone choosing those over the pork laden monstrosity of a Defense budget shows that they are less serious about the budget then they are about instituting their own personal agenda into what should be an emotion-less decision.

That's my opinion.

Well thank you. Unfortunately some people still think we get paid a lot for the work we do. I don't think $1450 a month qualifies as a HUGE paycheck.

Yeah McDonald's employees thousands of people, many of whom still have to resort to some form of assistance to make ends meet. Hooray for giant corporations! Remember we're a "service" economy now! If only we could get rid of all of those pesky "socialist" labor laws we could lower pay even more and hire even more wage slaves!

Just curious--does that amount include your housing allowance and any money you might get for dependents?

My husband and I used to be in the military--E3-E7 pay grade. At E3 and E4, we were quite literally starving. After that, and when I took a part time job as a hostess in a restaurant, we were fine and by the time he was E6, we actually did okay with the housing allowance and dependent bump up.

My brother in law is a captain in the Marines. He now owns his own house and his wife does not work. They have 4 children and one on the way. I doubt they are "rich" by any means but they are happy and comfortable.

I'm just curious is you think that the whole of the military is underpaid or just certain pay grades?
