The government knows better than any of us mere peons what is best for us.
I hope the parents speak up and don't let this school get away with this.
Not sure if you've looked out the window lately at our morbidly obese population, but perhaps they do know what's best? Obviously we haven't gotten a friggin clue.
Somewhere, someone's crony or relative is getting a pile of tax dollars to provide school lunches.
But don't worry......its "FOR THE CHILDREN".
Our parents have done a miserable job raising "the children" the last couple of decades. Take a look at the juvenile diabetes epidemic and tell me how it's workin' out.

Yeah the people coming up with nonsense are all height/weight proportionate.
Cite please.

Diet plays a role but I used to eat junk when I was a kid as did most of my friends, not having a cup cake in your lunch would be odd. Another thing that would be odd is not being outside doing something after school let out. The simple fact is these kids do not get exercise like they used too, their lives are so regimented with all their time being micro managed down to every second they have no time to do what kids should be doing.

Morbidly obese has a specific definition. It is NOT the same thing as being overweight and few American's meet that criteria.
Please don't confuse the terms and use them interchangably. We already have enough misinformation and misunderstandings about this so-called obesity "crisis."

Maybe so. Maybe not.
The question isn't how we get overweight, but why government is the solution.
I work at a jr./sr. high school cafeteria of a mostly rural school district. The kids have options of salad bars, pasta bars, fruit, yogurt, grilled chicken sandwiches on wheat rolls (baked from scratch at the school), homemade soups and chili - in addition to the basic lunch. I never see any kids bring their lunches from home. If they want "unhealthier" options, they are free to buy it. My job is the "french fry" area, where I prepare and serve endless amounts of french fries, chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and chicken nuggets. It's the busiest station of the cafeteria. The kids have to pay for these options, though. It's their money, they're paying for it, so they eat what they want.
