How 'bout we invest some time and energy in adapting to the 21st century and prevent the government from making U.S. citizens slaves to that government.

And I love the "fellow blacks" comment. It's pretty entertaining to see people project contemporary notions of racial categories back into antiquity when such notions did not exist.

Who is STILL in the business of selling humans...?

It's not like slavery was illegal when it was in play in the ancient history of the US.

It was reprehensible, but - this is 2011 - fix your mother-land because the practice of slavery is still going on over "there", before you want to berate people who are living in the US, in 2011, for something they never were around for - and most likely, neither were any of their family members.

Indeed.

Human traffiking is taking place today in the US and Mexico. Where is the outrage about it? Oh, maybe women and children aren't really important enough for the far left to get upset over. Heck, some of those children are working as slave labor in pot fields of Mexican drug cartels operating here in the US.

Do you eat frozen shrimp? If so chances are that it was harvested by slave labor in Thailand. Will that stop your shopping/eating habits? It did mine.

As usual, we have people here blaming Obama and "the left". It's ridiculous.

Many countries of the developing world, including some in Africa, eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Still not sure what your point is though, if you even have one.

Maybe they are envious because people of color have talents.

You see, the war was initially about state's rights and was changed to a war of morality AFTER the Emancipation Proclamation. Many Union soldiers, particularly those from souther Illinois and Indiana, deserted after the Emancipation Proclamation, as they did not support that concept.
