What combination of fiscal solutions will solve our debt and deficit problems?
1) Massive tax increases on "The Rich"?
2) A cessation of all military activity?
3) Ending all Federal Government aid for Americans who earn over $15,000 per year?
(This question is aimed at "progressives" but all are free to join the conversation!)
All of your options are too extremist for my taste.
1. Massive? Really? How would that be the right thing to do. I'm more in favor of the "rich" paying the amount of taxes that everyone else does but closing some of their tax loopholes that prevent them from paying the tax.
2. I don't think ALL military activity needs to be stopped. I think we can cut back some.
3. Ending aid to those in poverty would accomplish what? Probably an uptick in crime? Not everyone on government assistance is a loser. Some people are on it because they've become bankrupt due to medical catastrophes. Is it right to starve them to death, throw them on the street?
All of your options are too extremist for my taste.

Exactly, returning tax rates to their pre-2000 level ain't exactly what one should or could call massive considering the number of additional tax breaks that were received as part of the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which benefited whom most?
The current war on the poor isn't about fiscal responsibility, how could it be when folks are so eager to give away the store to corporations and to pretend that cuts in discretionary funds will have any more affect than pissing into the wind when it comes to reducing the deficit.

How is there a war on the poor? 42% of our people are on food stamps as it is. When would enough be enough? How many poor should the wealthy support outright? The top 20% already pay 90% of the taxes. They also create most of the jobs. Taxing them into oblivion so freeloaders can live on their sweat isn't my idea of fiscal equality. Take out the freeloaders and scammers and we'd have a solvent welfare system. Welfare is supposed to be a stop gap to help those in need through a hard time, not a life long means to living, and that's exactly what it has become.
Welfare families filled with generations of entitlement income, and the administrators and politicians that count on their votes, have helped to drive what could be a great system into the ground. People want change as long as it doesn't include themselves in the process. We have trained our empoverished to be... empoverished, and they'll fight for their right to remain poor and fed.
