All of the sacrifices in fixing the deficit so far have fallen on the middle class and the poor. The deficit can't be fixed with spending cuts only. There has to be increased revenue, and it can't all come off the back of the poor and middle class. Obama rightly backs letting the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire. I'm also pleased to see that the defense budget will be reduced under his plan.

Well I really don't see a viable option out there that won't completely cripple our country. Maybe if everyone agrees to chip in and pay 3 times their taxes, tell people on social security and medicaid to kick rocks, bring our army home and fire all unnecessary people to insure against any invasion attempts, and tell anyone on unemployment or any other type of welfare to kick rocks. Maybe if we do this for like 5 years, we'll be out of debt and everybody will be happy.? Anyone? I bet we could all come together a nation then. Yeah.

Stupid! First off the goverment has to do a new budget EVERY year. Please quit kicking the can down the road. The gop and the president talking about reducing the debt in 10 or 12 years is just that -talk. The still haven't passed this years budget, and if they do pass what was agreed last week we will still spend more this year then last year. All this talk of cutting 38 billion is a joke. The 38 billion is just cut from what the President wanted to spend. You people that are arguing that its the other sides fault are the problem. We need to cut this year not in the next 10-12 years. Please wake up people. Am I the only person that sees it.

So far NO ONE has been sacrificing to fix the deficit..

And yes, deficits can be fixed with spending cust just like the deficits climbed due to spending increases

And when a war and or such happens those cuts are essentially BS go out the window.

We are the world police and extra "x" monies not budgeted will be spent.

0bama increased the size of the federal budget by over 12%, cutting it back to 2008 levels alone would save more then the $4 trillion in 12 years, then his second budget proposal can ever hope to accomplish.

BTW, what was the final national debt figure after 12 years of this 0bama WTF plan? Was it $24 trillion, or $30 trillion?

Isn't that the same argument Obama used when he ran
the first time

"We cannot afford $1-trillion worth of tax cuts for every millionaire and billionaire in our society,” the President said. We can’t afford it. And I refuse to renew them again.”

Does anyone believe anything he says now?

not to mention:
we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

When Bush took office, the national debt was $5.73 trillion. When he left, it was $10.7 trillion. That's a difference of $4.97 trillion.

Current debt now is $14.3T, which means Obama added $3.6T in TWO YEARS ALONE.. And since the $4.97T included $800B in TARP money which brought the spending under Bush to $4.1T, and since that TARP money has since been repaid and credited to Obama, this means Obama spending is $4.4T deficits.. Obama deficits are higher in TWO years, than Bushs EIGHT years combined.

Wrong.. It was TARP which saved the banks which was done under Bush.. Obama spending was all about food stamps for people, $300B of the stimulus bill was for foodstamps alone..

Its only a good point for those who dont understand the difference between DEBT and deficits.. The DEBT does indeed include war spending.. So I guess this mean you and mr bob dont know the difference..
I am sure you will find some who will believe your nonsense, but not too many who have some awareness of facts.
