I could instead give you a lengthy discussion of the Supremacy Clause and how field preemption has emerged as a means of preventing state action. I could spend several paragraphs discussing Wyeth v. Levine and how that doctrine requires both Congressional intent and an intent to preempt the state's traditional police powers, both of which are present in the field of immigration regulation.

Wikipedia's article is not the law, but it's a good summary about it for somebody who doesn't know much about it to start with. I assume that most posters in here know little about complex federal legal doctrines.

Basically, do you think Wikipedia is wrong or lying here? If so why?

Immigration to the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1921, the Congress passed the Emergency Quota Act, followed by the Immigration Act of 1924. The 1924 Act was aimed at further restricting the Southern and Eastern Europeans, especially Jews, Italians, and Slavs, who had begun to enter the country in large numbers beginning in the 1890s.[21]
Nor were there so many social services ripe for the picking.

Ever hear of the "rule of hot pursuit"? A police officer may enter a home without a warrant if they are in pursuit of a criminal or if they suspect a crime is occurring inside.
SCOTUS ruled it constitutional.
