Parents of tipsy toddler sue over drink mixup | Chicago Breaking Business (http://chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2011/04/parents-of-tipsy-toddler-sue-over-drink-mixup.html - broken link)

When my family and I eat at a restaurant, I usually take a sip of my grandkids drink before I give it to them. I did the same with my kids.

Basic common sense.

You are a horrible parent. You should have done the most logical and sensible thing. You should have made a scene in the restaurant, went to the media (preferably while crying on camera), and sued for an absurd amount of money.

Good parents throw temper tantrums and file lawsuits.

Oh for pete's sake Yooperkat, I'm as conservative as they come and I am totally opposed to smoking in confined spaces. Aside from it being offensive, nasty, and a health issue, some people have asthma or other lung diseases and cigarette smoke could trigger a life threatening reaction. Why on earth would smokers think that non smokers should have to smell their smoke? This is the kind of thinking that stems from drug addiction, and nicotine is a drug addiction - you need the substance so badly, you don't care who else it hurts in the process of getting the fix.

Good one!!!!!

Some people just don't realize that life is not perfect, it's not without risk and people make mistakes.

Bringing children only to restaurants like Chucky Cheeses and McDonalds is part of the reasons for the childhood obesity and poor behavior in social settings. Your attitude towards children is just as distasteful.
Agree, I don't mind putting up with a little childish behavior so long as I see the parents DILIGENTLY trying to instill discipline. I can be very patient in that situation because children need the opportunity to become socialized and practice their skills. But that's not the case most of the time. Most of the time, MOST parents seem to be utterly incompetent and make no attempt to discipline their children.

I ordered a Saphire on the rocks a few weeks ago and the waitress brought me a vodka tonic..... yuck!

That almost made me sick, but I didn't sue.

chattypatty, I really don't have too much of a problem with not being able to smoke in a restaurant. You shouldn't have to inhale my second hand smoke. I get that.

However, in my state it is illegal in bars, I guess I get that. What gets me is that smokers can't have establishments for smokers - at all.

Shouldn't bar owners have the right to say that their establishment is smoker friendly? People that don't like smoke could go any place else.

But no, Democrats in my state have banned it outright.

You may hate nasty smoke, but in America, it is still up to me to smoke or not. Democrats have through legislation diminished my rights.

That is the creep of the Nanny State. Whether you agree with my choices or not.

You could CHOOSE not to go to restaurants and bars that allow smoking.

That would be the FREEDOM approach.

But some people just want to tell everyone else how to live their lives. And support a big socialist government that has created our current nanny state.

Got it. Actually I agree with you that smokers should have the right to create their own establishments. Whether one goes to a "smoker's bar" is one's personal choice. I always kind of assumed that smoking came with the territory in a bar, and that doesn't bother me one bit. Restaurants or shopping centers or airports or places of work, etc, are different as many nonsmokers frequent those places and of course, everyone has to work and most don't have a choice about going to the airport. One of my children had a dangerous asthma attack in a European airport that allowed incessant smoking and had a poor ventilation system (if they had one at all). I tried to report it as well as tried to get my son outside into the air and no one would help me or let me take him outside. It was terrifying and thankfully we were able to get on the plane in time. Obviously a different situation from just wanting to have a smoke in a designated bar where I can choose not to go and not to take my child.
