He didn't choose to betray his country, he voted for obama because he is black, and got duped like all the other suckers who thought the used car salesman was for real, which we all know he isn't. He is corrupt, incompetent, and must be stopped in 2012 or the nation won't survive. Under obama, we will all soon be living in Cuba....
Powell lost all creditability, his only future is to enjoy his retirement and stay away from the spotlite so he doesn't futher embarrass himself
I ask you the same question I ask everyone that makes the ridiculous assumption that a man as well educated as Powell would publicly support a candidate outside of his own party based on race alone. What did McCain/Palin offer as far as solutions? What reason did they give anyone in the country to believe they were ready to lead America in the right direction? What promises did they make to assure any rational thinking human being that they would take us in a different direction? Nobody can answer that!! They bash Obama voters without giving any rational reason to vote the other way!! Even if Obama was lying he said the right things and gave a desperate America reasons to gamble on him. McCain/Palin didn't do that. When Republicans start offering rational solutions and at least TRY to give me the impression that they have my best interests in heart. THEN they have a good case against Obama that isn't based on fear and outright lunacy like he's an Arab/Muslim/Socialist/Anti-Christ.

The Democrats didn't have the power to make stuff up. Bush and his people did.
And then, when Joe Wilson revealed how they had done it they set out to destroy Wilson's life.
It has been shown here many times the quotes of Democrats making the same claims as Bush did. Bush got the same intelligence information as Clinton was getting.

Powell is not some hoodrat so ignorant of politics that he'd vote just to see a black president if he felt that president would ruin the country. Powell is FAR too educated to place his support solely on race. If he cared about that he wouldn't be a Republican. Not all Black people are Obama fans. I was actually for Edwards and I voted for Obama as a lesser of two evils because the McCain/Palin ticket gave America a few far fetched reasons not to vote Obama but NO reason to vote for them. McCain couldn't keep his platform straight, stick to the important issues in a debate, or say anything that would make a rational American think he was ready to lead this country out of the Bush debacle. Powell saw that even when Limbaugh didn't.
Did you listen to his speech when he threw his support behind Obama? He clearly had to change his view on most everything to support Obama.
He only supported Obama because Obama is black. As a whitey, I see nothing wrong with that. He should have just come out and said it. His speech was painful to watch. He lost any chance he ever had of being president right then.
Not because he's black. And definately not because he's a Republican. Colin Powell seems to me to have always had 1 main ingredient the candidates of both parties lack. Integrity. I've never heard Colin Powell blindly get caught up in partisan politics. He follows his own logic and conscience regardless of who agrees with him and I admire that. Plus I think a former 5 star General would make an awesome Commander and Chief right now given our foreign quagmires...
He permanently tarnished his reputation when he played the "Good Soldier" by going before the U.N. with false intelligence to justify the Iraq War. At that point he forfeited his integrity to the Bush Administration. And what did he get in exchange? He got pushed aside when it came time to formulate the planning and execution of the Iraq War despite the fact he had more national security experience than either Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld.
Colin Powell is a perfect example of somebody who gets used for symbolic purposes and then gets dumped once they are no longer needed.
Powell said he would not run for President because he would never want to expose his family to public scrutiny.
