Not sure you live, but there's 1 Mil. black Americans in the metro area of my city and most of black Americans I see are def. black. Even "brown" would be different.. different facial structures etc. they would still look black. Still, I think those terms would be better.

Black is a skin color, the darkest of the dark. I don't personally know any people from America who are actually black. I know a few Africans who are.

His nickname in his home country is "El Chinito."

Origin can be viewed as the heritage, nationality group, lineage, or country of birth of the person or the person's parents or ancestors before their arrival in the United States.

People who identify their origin as Spanish, Hispanic, or Latino may be of any race.

I guess it depends on if he was born in Peru or not. Since it is your ORIGINS that matter.

That's actually not the correct definition because all hispanics/latinos don't have ancestors from Spain. Many Central Americans have almost all Mayan or Mixteca roots, many Dominicans and Cubans and Panamanians have no European blood but virtually 100% African roots. Someone from Argentina might have no Spanish blood but German or Italian blood. Many famous hispanics are Arab ethnicities -- Shakira, Carlos Slim, Salma Hayek.

And most people actually from Spain wouldn't refer to themselves as hispanic or latino but as Spanish or European.

Most 'hispanics' are mestizo's, that is they are a combination of asian/european origins, a Eurasian if you will.

This case shows how pointless those classifications are increasingly becoming.
"Brown" is a very subjective term, even I am brown most of the year
If for whatever reason there needs to be a classification, how about this twofold one:

a) Racial ancestry:
- Primarily European/Mediterranean/West Asian
- Primarily South Asian
- Primarily East Asian
- Primarily Sub-Saharan
- Isolated (aboriginals, tribes, etc.)
- Strongly mixed/unknown

b) Cultural ancestry:
- North American
- Latin American
- Germanic European
- Latin European
- Slavic European
- North African/Middle Eastern/West Asian
- South Asian
- East Asian
- Sub-Saharan
- Isolated (aboriginals, tribes, etc.)
- Other/mixed

Are you sure? People in Argentina don't seem all that mixed and Cubans and Puerto Ricans and Dominicans are usually white or black or mixed white and black. I think most hispanics are all white, all black, all asian, all arab, all indigenous or any combination.

And what's even worse is that generally people in "hispanic" countries don't view themselves as hispanic but as citizens of their country. It's really only when they get to the USA they are in such a category. Like a guy from Mexico said he never really heard the term until he was in the USA for a while, back home he was a Mexican. He still doesn't feel any real bond or kinship with someone from Cuba or Argentina.

And if someone has a Spanish last name but doesn't speak Spanish and never lived in a Latin American nation, celebrates only the American national holidays and is patriotic only to the USA, are they hispanic? What if they look like Cameron Diaz?
