Cities and states across the country are broke. But instead of raising taxes, lawmakers are raising traffic fines.

"This business of using fines and traffic fees as revenue sources is just flat wrong," said Lew Uhler with the National Tax Limitation Committee. "This is simply a tax by another name."

Nowhere is that more obvious than Los Angeles, where the city collects more then $1.8 million a year at a single intersection in the San Fernando Valley from drivers running a red light. Cost per ticket is $476.

Balancing Budgets on Drivers' Backs - FoxNews.com

Welcome to Europe in the USA! That is why Obama told everybody over a year ago that he really likes what The Netherlands and Germany are doing...

Soon a police officer doesn't need to stop you but the put a flasher behind a tree like in Europe and flash/ticket over 2000 in a hour...just to make additional money. They will start with 10 mph over and when people start to slow down they will flash you at 8 mph over....this has been going on for decades in Europe..

Who is mostly affected....you probably guessed well...the people Obama stated he is looking to spread the wealth too, but they are the ones driving the most and have the least money...many drive for their profession.

If you don't believe me, you will in a few years.

And you think this is something new?

Jeez, man, cities and states have been using drivers as a cash cow since the automobile was invented.

This is easy to beat obey the laws of the road. If the limit is 65mph that does not mean you drive at 70mph,most cars have cruise control. A good portion of people are in a hurry I wonder if the thought ever entered their brain to leave a little early giving themselves more time. A stop light/sign means what it says stop not slowly roll thru.

When they don't generate enough revenue, the police will ticket you for "following too close" or "rolling stop" or some other offense where they get to make a value judgement.
