I agree. Now what do you propose the US do about it? You prepared to saddle up our troops and send them in to the Congo? Better yet, are you ready to volunteer for duty?

Malaria, drugged-up child soldiers, ritual amputations. It oughta be a real picnic.

Default Once Burned

They are studying the matter---be patient. We don't want to just go "charging in there", after all.....besides, we don't know what annoyed these muslim militias and CAUSED them to "act out"....until we know their reasons, we can't judge. We "judged" Saddam Hussein, and made a lot of folks mad at us---"mad" isn't good, and we must not butt into other people's business.......

You are so right, FFH. There's nothing constructive an outsider can do in these 3rd world killing cesspools.

The victims have to either rise up and fight or die. I just hope they've got the means to fight back.

Anyone who's read my previous posts on the UN know where I stand on them

The UN is impotent. They'll say it's horrible; the world will apply pressure on the US to do something about it and wonder how we can be so uncaring while continuing to complain that we try to exert too much influence in the world.

Have we learned nothing from Iraq?? We have no business providing our standard of living to the rest of the world. It is only feasible to adjust our lifestyle to such that the rest of the world is not subjected to unfavorable comparison. We must reduce our standard of living to match that of these other countries and eliminate any evidence of our possible superiority. Only then can other countries feel less threatened and thus become more friendly to us.

If we institute our own rape gangs and propigate our own ritual amputations as described in this article, we would put ourselfs on a more equal footing with people like these in the Congo and isn't that what we really want, Worldwide equality? It sure seems more effective than invading their country and eliminating anyone that doesn't want to become more like us.

UN stand for Useless Nimrods. They lost all credibility after Rwanda. They probably should disband.

That is what the UN is. Yet it still exists......Oh Yeah how about the military component....Blue helmeted "Stoned Norwiegens"( Peacekeepers) in out dated armoured personnel carriers whose only gear is reverse. Disband the whole organization.............................As one poster said the UN reports atrocities and then does NOTHING !!!!!!!!

You act as if it's independent of the nation states that comprise it. It's like so many other organizations, the members have to step to make the organization as a whole do things.
