5 a gallon? Short spike to 4 then back down in the 3's? Something else?

Most economists are predicting them to peak at $6 by late-summer during hurricane season. I think $6.50 is possible but prices will end the year in the 2's if not 1's as the economy collapses around us. America will come to a grinding halt at $6 gas. Sure, Europe can handle it but they have much shorter commutes and better public transportation. Plus, they have cars that get much, much higher MPG than anything sold in the USA. $6 gas at 40 mpg is the same as $3 gas is at 20mpg. Considering so many Americans drive vehicles that get 15mpg and under, you can see why these prices are such a big deal and are such an economy killer.

If the US dollar loses its place as the world trade currency I can see the price of gas at the pump literally doubling overnight. I think this is the long term strategy of Progressives who seek to allow the US to utilize its vast natural energy resources. Inflation is the ultimate tool for redistributing the wealth of America.

Spiking in the summer, crashing to $3 by end of the year. Pedestrians looking up for falling bodies of oil prices speculators.

Don't know, guess it depends on what the media repeats the price

We don't really have an oil crisis. The gas prices will go down as soon as people start protesting and whining.

I think you built a accurate descirption of how it truly is. But hasn't our US dollar already lost its place as the world trade currency, we are lagging behind are we not.

My record is awful when it comes to predictions, some I do get right but the time frame is way off. So I say 5 bucks real close to July 4th and never dropping below 4.50 a gal for the rest of the year.
