Who could be against helping the poor, well, maybe if the federal government is in charge of taxpayer money in a $5 billion dollar government program.

A federal program designed to help impoverished families heat and cool their homes wasted more than $100 million paying the electric bills of thousands of applicants who were dead, in prison or living in million-dollar mansions, according to a government investigation.

The Government Accountability Office studied the program after a 2007 investigation by Pennsylvania's state auditor found 429 applicants received more than $162,000 using the Social Security numbers of dead people.

Just another reason to maintain a healthy skepticism when it comes to entrusting the federal government to better distribute our hard earned taxpayer money.

Will fraud and waste like this be seen with the $20 billion in the BP escrow account? Not if you drink enough purple Kool-aid.

Healthy Skepticism???? How about steadfast, unflinching, unremitting iron-will complete and total resistance to such programs.

People MUST be accountable for their failures, less-than-complete successes etc., Making people "whole" with other people's money in a moral crime. Everyone should make themselves whole, not me or anyone else. Don't make enough money? Too bad, work harder, learn new skills, study and better yourself.

Welfare is just another kind of tapeworm.

I'm starting to think the entire two party political machine in DC is corrupt to the bone and nothing will be done, nothing. They are all talk about cleaning up waste and fraud. There's only a handful in DC that are true to serving Americans but they are drowned out and just ignored.

It won't be cleaned up and we all know that, don't we ?
