They have the power and they are not losing any funding.

So, a big bad government agency loses it's grip to a wonderfully responsible gigantic corporation.
And that is a liberal failure???

It is both, the government needs to stop limiting liability for corporations and creating acceptable levels of harm. (regulations)

Way too true!
We have become a Corporatist Government ruled by a Aristocracy of Greed.
The Devil, posing as Mammon, won this round. Now we have to live in their Creation.

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”
Benito Mussolini
The political elite made sure the largest and most powerful corporations got special favors and laws set up to promote corporate interests to the exclusion of everything else while the corporate bosses agreed to make sure no one ever questioned the power & rule of the political elite.
Everyone else? The normal people? They were to do nothing but breed more soldiers or workers to be used by either the corporate elite or the political elite. You'd have to be blind not to hear the echo of how the corporate lobbyists literally own Congress and write their own laws which the bribed politicans just rubber stamp.
