Tell me what you think.

What do you mean by "allowed". Anyway, Facebook is here to stay and I'm not sure what would replace it. Myspace is nothing compared to it. It's childs play compared to Facebook. Facebook is very sophisticated and constantly updating with new technology. And they have the people, resourses and means to continue being on top.

And what makes you say that? It has become an integral part of commerce, government, trade, absolutely everything. It revolutionized the way we do almost everything. Barring every DNS suddenly being destroyed, or some sort of advanced telepathic neural network (aka the work of fiction), I cannot possibly see how the Internet will ever disappear.

You say that, yet facebook is dependent on people to create profiles.

If the internet can be shut off in Egypt for a week, I think it's feasible for people to be completely shut off from access to the internet.

Egypt is/was a dictatorship where Mubarak could easily send his goons in to 'convince' the service providers to pull the plug.

That (hopefully) would never happen in the US or any other comparable nation.

Create a poll on Facebook and find out. Or create a "End of Facebook Virtual Party" and see who clicks the 'attending' button.

[2020 is about 9 years away - I'm more interested in what the internet will look like...]

Yes, it is dependent on people voluntarily creating profiles, not something that is "allowed" to exist by elitists.
