The other question that needs to be asked is, what difference does the royal wedding make, outside of tabloids? If I was the President of the United States, I'd hope and pray NOT to get an invitation!
State occasions like weddings and funerals are popular with politicians because it allows them to have a big get together and a bunch of meetings "off the record".
I'm curious what you all think of this. I have heard a few theories. I heard it's because it is not a state event. Also, maybe this was a snub because Obama had the Churchill bust removed from the White House. Or maybe because Michelle Obama made the mistake of putting her arm around the Queen when she met her.
ALL ridiculous baloney!
There is a DUPLICATE thread on this silly subject of Obama's being "snubbed" with all the REAL reasons NOT every leader of every country was invited..
If ya want to slam Obama for pete's sake pick an important ISSUE of relevence to America.
I'm sure the obamas will send a gift even though they were snubbed. I think he has about 5000 more hours of his speeches on DVD since the last set he sent over there...
Well, at least Posh Spice from the Spice Girls 90s girl band is invited. Just for perspective.
I can't believe I know this. How embarrassing. I have too many British friends and family members, I guess, and watch too much British TV.
So, while she's "Posh Spice" to us, she's Victoria Beckham to Brits, and she is apparently quite close with Kate Middleton. They're friends. I guess she even gave her a designer dress collection for the honeymoon.
So it's not like they went through their Middle School CD collections and said: "Posh Spice! She was the hot one! Invite her! Give her Obama's chair!"
She's a personal friend invited to a personal wedding. And I gotta tell ya... keeping a guest list in check is a BEAR for a regular wedding. Goodness knows it must be tough for a spectacle like this...
The heads of state who have been invited are ROYAL heads of state. Or non-royal Heads of State for current/former British colonies. Or non-royal heads if state who are friends of Prince William specifically.
But if it makes you feel better to think that the Fisrt Family was snubbed, have at it
Damn! I went over that list several times and didn't see my name.
I need to make some phone calls and get this straightened out!
